Everyone on the East coast is having cold and snow this weekend. Even down here in Atlanta we are having a frost warning. The rose bush outside my front door is making one last valient attempt to bloom before the hard freeze.
This rose bush is the gift that keeps on giving - it blooms all season long. I don't ever pick the flowers but I frequently thing about it. They have some mean thorns! The blooms would look pretty in a flex tube or vase.
Our 15th anniversary was on the 20th. The friday before, my friend Melissa and her mom babysat the boys so we could go out to a nice dinner. We went to Violette, on Clairmont Rd in Atlanta. What a lovely place - you would never know you are in a busy area of town once you walk in. It has a kind of wine celler decor - with heavily plastered walls, painted a dark grey.
The have live music - the piano play was great. He played standards, not too loud but with subdued flair. Perfect for the home-style French food. I had a lemon drop made with Limoncello. Wow that got me in a mellow mood fast! Then I ordered French Onion soup, and Seafood in Puff Pastry. It was so yummy - salmon, lobster, shrimp, and mussels. That is the first time I have ever eaten mussels.
Jin had lamb chops with blackberry sauce. Super yummy. Chocolate mousse, and creme brulee topped it off!
I went to Walmart yesterday and picked up 12 pint jars, and a little kit with a jar lifter, funnel, etc. I picked up all the extra ingredients. I already have a dishwasher with sanitize setting, and a huge pot so I think I am ready to go! Now off to clean the kitchen.
15 years ago Jin and I were married! I am so happy to have reached this little milestone. Hey - they one even has a theme - crystal and watches. We have all the watches and crystal we need but we are getting a night out tomorrow. My friend Melissa and her mom (who has been staying with us this week) are gooing to stay an extra day so they can babysit tomorrow night.
I can tell Jin has some plan working because he keeps reading me fancy restaurant menus. I can't wait!
We hit a local church's pumpkin patch today to pick up some pumpkins to decorate. It was cute, with some photo opportunities so I got a couple of shots of the kids. They are wearing their Auburn Tiger stuff - no hoodies for kids or cute fall stuff, but at least it's orange for Halloween!
Saturday we took the kids and dog and went for a nice walk on the Alpharetta Greenway. It was a beautiful fall day. Here are a couple of pictures...
The kids are going to be mad at me tomorrow morning. I thought they had the day off for Columbus day, but they actually have school. Good thing I checked the calendar. I need engraved invitations to keep track of this stuff!
