When I was in high school my mom drove an apple green Volvo station wagon. This this was literally like a tank - indestructible. Mom has a great mechanic down the street, Tony, who specialized in working on foreign cars. Back in Italy when he was younger he worked on race cars, and reportedly was a driver at some point. He had a very thick Italian accent, and put the a sound after many of his English words, like the classic accent.
One day my mom and I brought the Volvo in on the spur of the moment because it was making a funny noise. Tony always gave us a great price on labor and Volvo parts. So we were hanging around the shop, waiting, while Tony talked to another customer who had brought in a Ferrari.
Of course this is the coolest car ever, so Mom and I are eavesdropping on the whole conversation. Tony the mechanic is giving the guy a quote and says "The part is-a gonna be a-four-a hundred dollar." The guy gasps, and says "Four Hundred Dollars!" Tony replies with a very European shrug of the shoulders, "On a Ferrari, everything's a four-a-hundred dollar."
My mom and I are trying not to bust out laughing over in the corner. I have always remembered this line, and it actually fits so many situations. You have to pay to play.
