It's official - we're broke.  I sure hope I get a job offer soon, as we are broke as a spoke.  The kids eat like horses, wear out their clothes and shoes with alarming regularity, and the bills keep coming in.  Well, we will make it, it's just going to be very cheapy cheapy until I am working again.  One good thing - we are waiting for the flexible spending child care reimbursement and that will help pay the bills.

Trivia - did you know that Stephen Jay Gould had mesothelioma (the cancer caused by asbestos exporsure)?  After he was  diagnosed, Gould wrote an article called  "The Median Isn't the Message where he said that "statistics such as median survival are just useful abstractions, not destiny."  Gould lived twenty years past that time and eventually died from another form of lung cancer, not the mesothelioma.

Geothermal Energy & Cogeneration Power Plants

One of the companies who I have done freelance writing for agreed to give me a byline on their website for the two articles I wrote about geothermal energy and cogeneration power plants.  Freelancing has been so fun - I have been able to research and write about topics from renewable energy sources, to medical and technical topics.  I have written about topics as varied as taking "photo walks", creating baby gift baskets, and travel in Costa Rica.

This customer had some very kind words about my work, and added my name to the articles I wrote for them.  Enerlix is a new site which will serve as a marketplace and news site for the energy industry.

Wednesday Chit Chat

I think I have an ear infection or something - its driving me crazy.  Time to go visit my buddy the primary care physician. 

Tonight's dinner was a totally inspired bit of gourmet-liciousness.  Pizza Bagels.  Yes, one day you could aspire to my level of culinary excellence, but it takes work, my friends.  You do not get this kind of cuisine just anywhere.

This morning I did a repeat performance of Fox in Sox and Caps for Sale at Adam's preschool class.  I had read for Ben's kindergarten class a few weeks ago and Adam insisted I do the same for his class.  The 4 year olds were a great audience - they laughed at every page of Fox in Sox.  Very cute.

I had lunch with Amanda.  (Hi Amanda if you are reading this!)  I did not ask her how Karate was going - I wonder if she is breaking any boards or attacking people with any of her very serious self defense products.

 

Coffee With the Kuerig Reusable Filter

Having run out of the awesome Tully's Kona K-cups that I enjoy, I broke out the "My K-Cup reuasable filter and some Folgers ground coffee for my morning brew.  Although I have had the My K-Cup for a long time sitting in drawer, I think this is the first time I have used it.

It made a very nice large cup of Folgers with about 2 teaspoons of coffee in it.  Add some organic sugar and half and half and it was very nice.  It was also easy to clean, I just knocked out the grounds and rinsed it under some warm water.   So this will be a good way to use up the ground coffee I bought for my mother in law, and save some money on K-cups.
