We finally got some good beginning of summer weather today and I took the kids to the pool!  Yay!  It was very fun.  I am totally wiped out now, though.  Dinner was mini kosher hot dogs in grape jelly chili sauce sweet and sour, rice, and green beans from a can.  Classy.  Just part of the services I provide around here.  Oh, and follow that all up with break and bake Toll House cookies. 

So if tomorrow is nice (and I have the energy) we will head back to the pool.

I had so much damn stuff to take to the pool.  2 life jackets thingys, 2 kickboards, a pool noodle, 3 towels, and 2 juice pouches.  Guess what?  We drove over to the pool.  LOL.  I was not going to lug all that crap over there and more importantly BACK.

Have you seen the new teeny tiny Sony Vaio laptops?  I would love one of those little tiny laptops with the wireless card so you can get internet anywhere.  Fun.  I don't want to pay any recurring fees, though.  I hate recurring fees.  They are the bane of the budget.

Early Thursday Chit Chat

I'm keeping the kids home this week as a celebration of the start of summer vacation.  Today we went to the bouncy house place for them to jump around on inflatables.  That was great.  Best $17 you can spend in my opinion - gets them to expend all kinds of energy.  I knitted while they ran around, jumped, bounced, climbed up and slid down. 

Then we stopped at the library and checked out some books and a video.

I keep forgetting I need to check out life insurance quotes since I don't have term life through work any more.  I do have a line on a 2 week contract position.  I have a phone interview on Friday so wish me luck.

Tomorrow I hope the weather is nicer so I can take the kids to the park.

Is it me or does this thing look like those old fashioned toys with the wood spinning wheel?  The "button on a string?" or native American buzzsaw.

Happy Memorial Day

We had a nice BBQ family dinner.  I made my extra special hamburgers (secret ingredients include Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, a little breadcrumbs, and a bit of ketchup).  We had some grilled Hebrew National hot dogs, potato salad, and watermelon slices.  Yummy.

Melissa treated me for a pedicure earlier in the day so all in all it was a very nice day. 

Next week I will be home with the kids.  The weather forecast is crappy so I don't think we will make it to the pool.  Hopefully it will be good enough to take them to the park and ride bikes.  Ben is really gotten the hang of riding his bike and it's nice to be on the cul-de-sac so he can ride up and down the street with fairly light traffic.

I was just reading about a fellow Ravelry member who is in the hospital and having a bad time of it.  It made me feel a little more lucky about my situation.  The Crohn's is under control although I have up and down days I am not doing too bad.  There is no "travel insurance" for your life.  You just have to take your lumps and take your chances.

Arghhh!

I am driving myself crazy. I feel like crud.  I wish a golden magic job would fall in my lap like an apple from a tree.  I have a headache, two sick (and yet somehow feeling good enough to be LOUD) kids, and a sink full of dirty dishes.  Yes - my status of the day is Arghhh.  And not in a pirate-y way either.  Just a crummy headach-y sick kids kind of way.

Did you know that more and more employers are doing employee credit checks and employee background checks?  People need to watch what they post on the web/Facebook/Myspace, etc.

Oh my this is very embarrassing. It gives fodder for the Islamic extremists who say that the war in Iraq was a “crusade.” It shows insensitivity to the soldiers depicted who may or may not share the religious sentiment. I am not sure how I got to age 40 without knowing how to make a proper paper airplane, but I did.  My son needed me to make one for him so I used my google-fu to find good instructions.

Here are the easiest instructions for a simple, yet well flying paper airplane.  They call it "The Basic Dart."  It is "full of win."

TGIF Chit Chat

I am glad it's Friday.  I am looking forward to a nice weekend with the family.  Jeff and James are coming over tomorrow.  James is making lasagna!  Yummy.

I am not feeling very good this week.  I have one of those 2 week long migraines that just lurks under the surface.  I hate those.  It's sapping all my energy.  I am letting the kids do a lot of things for themselves which is a good thing, I think.  Fostering independence.

Do you ever just want to get a big ol' rv and travel the country?  Me neither.  But what I might like is something like my buddy Malcolm does - he has a property in an Airstream park and a nice Airstream to park on his land.  He built a gazebo and they even have wireless internet in the country.  Sounds pretty nice.
