Driving Myself Crazy

I am driving myself crazy waiting to hear from the company I have been interviewing with.  I had three interviews, and this is the magic 5th interview (with a real company and good job - I have had also lots of recruiter interviews).  So as you might expect I am going nuts wondering if in fact they will "come to snuff" as they say in the regency romances. 

Living the cheap ass lifestyle does have its benefits - no need for diet supplements, just cheap/healthy food.  Last night I made grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Everyone liked it - cheap and easy.   Previous to that was fishsticks and tater tots.  The night before it was pasta salad - cooked pasta, diced sweet onion, carrots, celery, mayo, apple cider vinegar, a pinch of sugar, adobo seasoning and a can of tuna.  Other secret ingredients are italian herb blend and Parmesan cheese.

I have no idea what to make tonight.  I think pasta in pesto sauce with a side of broccoli but I am not sure - I might try to get more creative.  I also have a shoulder of pork defrosting that will go into the crock pot for bbq pork sandwiches.

Home Remedy Migraine Cures

I get a lot of web hits for "crohn's migraine" so I know I am not the only one blessed with these two lovely afflictions.  In the interests of sharing and caring here are some of the home remedies I have tried.

I am in no way a medical professional so let me preface this list with a standard disclaimer:  if these don't work for you stop doing them and see your doctor.

Ok - - now for the migraine "cures."

Lay in dark room with ice pack on head and pray for death.

Coffee - stronger the better.

Migrelief - B2 (riboflavin) and feverfew supplement.  My neurologist says this makes migraines 50% less strong for 50% of people.  You take the stuff every day and it will take some time to see effects.  Like 3 months.

5 hour energy seems to have a good effect on my headaches.  Good for eeking out the day when you simply can't got to the dark room to pray for death.

Here's one from my buddy Amanda.  Be careful not to make yourself pass out.  Put your feet in hot hot water and put a cold cold ice pack on your head.  The has the effect of making the blood rush to your feet and out of your head.  (Thus note the not passing out part)  I recoomend a spotter for this just in case.

When the home remedies fail - Ibuprofen or pain relief of your choice.  RX goodies include maxalt, relpax, imitrex, topamax (also known as dopamax for its brain stupifying side effects) and other more serious pain killers as can be prescribed.  See neurologist for more details.

When none of the above work - consider poking your eye out with a rusty spoon.

Tuesday Chit Chat - K Cups on Sale

Amazon is having a pre-sale on K-Cups Packs of 50 for the Keurig coffee makers at about $10 less than the retail price.  I love my Keurig.  I have been out of K-cups and using the refillable My K-Cup to cut costs.  I have an Amazon gift card that I earned from Amazon sales through the blogs so I just may order some.

So I have had three job interviews at the same company and it looks as if they are interested in hiring me.  Now I am in wait mode and I know better than to count my chickens before they are hatched so I am still looking out there.   It's about time for me to get back to work as I am "broke as a spoke."

Last night I had a big ol' migraine but I feel better today.  P.S. Coffee is a good migraine cure.

 

Watching the Clouds Go By

Yesterday we took the kids to see Disney/Pixar's Up.  Great movie.  As my friend Julie said, "It will make you cry and it will make you laugh."  It has a great moral to the story - life itself is the adventure.

My mother has asked me to make her a photo brag book.  I am looking for the perfect .png brag book album that I can use for a quick photo book.  Those are great for anything from birth announcements, holiday cards, photo books, and badge albums.

Today I took the kids to the park.  Hot hot hot.  So then we stopped at Bruster's for ice cream on the way home.  They had peach!  Anyone who has had Bruster's home made peach ice cream knows this is cause for celebration.  They only stock it in season.

We sat on the benches in the shade outside of Bruster's and watched the clouds go by.  We say a swan, the planet Pluto, a dinosaur, and others.

Then I set up the sprinkler (Thanks for the duct tape hint, Dad - worked like a charm on the hole in the hose) and the kids and the neighbors are playing in the water and with squirt guns as I type this.  Cheap fun.

Hot-Lanta

It's days like today when I ask myself - how did I end up in the South?  I am not a huge fan of hot weather!  What was I thinking.  The truth is I don't sweat very much and I don't have a lot of natural cooling ability.  Add asthma to the mix and the gross air quality out there and I just want to hibernate.

Good news is that I have a job interview tomorrow.  I was originally being considered for a very short term contract, but after the phone interview with the hiring manager they now want me to come in for a face to face interview about a possible contract to perm.  Since the job market has been dry as the Sahara, I am very very excited about this. 

Yesterday after I picked up the kids from summer camp/daycare I got them playing outside in the sprinkler.  Then I went to the local knit night and met my friend Lisa for dinner.  Nice girls night out.

One good think about the hot weather - for me hot summer days are the best appetite suppressant.  I just want to subsist on cool fresh fruit and light food.
