If your business model is “I want to make money on the Internet,” you’re not going to get very far. The Internet is profoundly indifferent to your desire to make money with it.
Interesting article. We keep reading that blogging is dead. Over time my blogs are making me a bit of steady cash. I've learned that blogging is about giving something to your readers: information, a laugh, a link, a picture... By giving something of value away over time you can get a reader base. If your affiliate links are things your reader base might actually want to buy, you can get affiliate sales. If your ads happen to be links that your readers WANT to click then you can get ad revenue. If you get freelance writing jobs from other content providers, exposure on the job market, professional clout, or other publicity from your blog all sorts of different types of opportunities can come your way.
My point? Give first, then you will receive later. There is no get rich quick scheme that really works. There is only one way to get rich in this world - work for it. Keep blogging and your audience will find you. Figure out what they like to buy and advertise it. Over a long period of time money actually can start coming in.
