(CNN) -- Lawmakers on Sunday called for toning down the political rhetoric in Washington and across the country after a shooting in Arizona that left six people dead and left a congresswoman with a bullet wound to the brain.

I have some thoughts about this tragic crime that occurred yesterday. I have a knee jerk reaction to blame Sarah Palin for her violent rhetoric, and tasteless imagery.
The truth is that we may never know why a mentally ill individual massacres people. It's unfathomable.
I can only cry, especially for the little girl, aged 9 who was born on September 11th during one of the darkest hours of our country and who senselessly die in another low point. That's just crap and I don't want anything like this to ever happen again.
