Spiced Strawberry Lemonade with Captain Morgans

I had some strawberries on the way to going mushy and realized I also had a bottle of "Simply Lemonade" in the fridge.  I thought to myself, "self, I could make strawberry lemonade."  Hubster piped up and said "daiquiris?" which got me thinking.   So I "unvented" a drink.

This is what I came up with ---

Captain Morgan's Spiced Strawberry Lemonade:

Strawberries macerated with sugar

Simply Lemonade

1 Shot of Captain Morgan's spiced rum

Pour over ice and serve!

 Absolutely delicious.  I think this would be great blended up in the blender as an iced drink as well.

Bubbles and Plants

The kids got bubble guns in their bunny baskets this morning, so here are two obligatory bubble blowing pictures.

I also did some gardening today.  James brought me tomato plants and also zukes and yellow squash plants that he started in his greenhouse.  Hubster dug up part of the raised bed that we made last year to protect the Air Conditioner unit from water erosion to plant them in.  I hope they grow!

Cleaning and Cooking

I am taking a short break between cleaning bursts.  Then I will be making matzoh ball dough.  Gah... too much work involved in celebrations.  It would be nice to be able to get a nice Jewish meal to go for Passover.  In New York you can get it.  I bet I could even go to the heavily Jewish part of Atlanta and get it.  Out here in the burbs I am happy to be able to find the right ingredients in the local stores now that we have a Chabad nearby. Hmm, sounds like franchise opportunities.

What a difference between when we first moved out here 16 years ago!

Cooking Seder Dinner

We are doing our Seder late this year - tomorrow night.  That way I have more time to get everything ready since I was in calss all week.

So I made the chicken soup already and will make the matzoh ball mix tonight.  I am in the process of cooking "My Mother's Brisket" (the Epicurious recipe, which coincidentally my mom also makes).  Then tommorow I will chop up charoset, and do the rest of the preparations.  I cheated and bought already hard boiled eggs.

My friends Jeff and James are coming over to be our guests.   Yay!  Get ready to break out the discount acid cigars, its party time.

Everything Is Coming up Roses... and Irises

Look at what I see every time I open up the front door! The landscaping we put in last year is blooming and growing like crazy. The huge purple irises are just nuts - they smell like fruit loops. And the roses and all coming out. I love that every day I have a bouquet of roses - it is like having Mothers Day Flowers every day.

The kids love Netflix streaming. First they watched 9 seasons of Rugrats. Then they watched season 1 of The Wild Thornberrys. Now we put Rugrats Go Wild in the instant queue. (Rugrats and Wild Thronberrys together) Daddy is going crazy with all these Rugrats episodes. Heh Heh Heh. But seriously, the Netflix streaming is a great value at $8.00 a month for unlimited streaming. They have a lot of good stuff for kids especially.
